Cluster Validation fails - SCSI 3 Persistent Reservation

$

I have Dell Blade PEm600 and PRM610 connecting to an Equallogic PS 4000.

They all iscsi boot off the storage. When running the cluster validatioin, dell advise to

1. Bring the w2k8-cluster-witness disk online, initialize it and then set it back offline
2. Bring the w2k8-cluster-data disk online, initialize it and then set it back offline.

Then run the cluster validation, if I do this the SCSI 3 Persistent reservations pass.

But if I run validate cluster after the cluster has been created, it fails the SCSI 3 persistent test.

The error in the cluster report is:

Failed to access cluster disk 0 from node server1.play.net status 31
Cluster Disk 0 does not support Persistent Reservations. Some storage devices require specific firmware versions or settings to function properly with failover clusters. Please contact your storage administrator or storage vendor to check the configuration of the storage to allow it to function properly with failover clusters.

I have upgraded the PS4000 firmware to the latest editio, no change.

Has anyone else see this problem. Is this how you  have performed your validations?

Thanks

Cluster Validation - integration services that does not match the host computer

Hello,

When I run Validate Cluster on Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V cluster, the report shows that "The following virtual machines are running integration services that does not match the host computer" for some VMs.

But when I run Get-VM | ft Name, IntegrationServicesVersion from powershell, it reports that all the VMs are running the same version of Integration Services.

Thanks.

Hello all,

I have an annoying error on a DPM 2012 Sp1 UR3 over Windows Server 2012 Datacenter.

When I try to backup the VMs on the CSV Volume, the protection group goes straight away in error with "unknown error" id 104.

Any clue ?

The Computer (name) does not have the failover clustering feature installed.

Have 2 servers running Server 2008 R2 service pack 1.  Both have failover cluster feature installed.  When I go to validate a configurations, I try to add the other server and it always replies with the same error.

Event id 4631.

Failover cluster manager detected a parameter that was not in the expected range: the computer (name) does not have the failover clustering feature installed.

But both have the feature installed.  They can ping each other, on the same domain, same hardware and software setup.  Ive tried removing the feature and re-adding it and rebooting, but nothing seems to correct the issue.

Any help would be great.

THank you

Unable to determine the version of the integration services on the following virtual machines. To determine the version of the integration services, ensure that the virtual machine is online and has finished restarting when running cluster validation.

Any Idea why?

additional informations:
- cluster worked before, customer renamed the 2003 domain and before that the cluster was removed and after domain rename the cluster was rebuild. so the cluster worked before with no problems.
- DC shows no errors while creating the cluster
- cluster log also shows no errors

Windows Server 2012 Cluster Validation Failing On List All Potential Cluster Disks

$

I'm in the process of setting up a new cluster using Windows Server 2012 with a view to migrate from our existing 2008 R2 cluster.  I am having problems validating the storage and the wizard keeps failing on the List All Potential Cluster Disks test (which causes all the other storage tests to be cancelled).

I'm getting the following error:

Failed while verifying removal of any Persistent Reservation on physical disk 19ba99a4 at node RC-HYPERV-3.riddlesdown.local.

When I look in validation report, disk 19ba99a4 is the management LUN (Access LUN 31 as termed by the storage software).

Looking on my 2008 R2 cluster this doesn't appear in Disk Management.

Any ideas how I can get rid of it or the error that it is causing?

how many core per physical CPU is supported in different editions of windows server 2008 R2 ?

hi friends

about windows 7 i read in a document that:

All 32bit edition of windows 7 support maximum 32 cores in each processor

All 64bit edition of windows 7 support maximum 256 cores in each processor

what about windows server 2008 R2 (standard , web , enterprise & datacenter) ?

thanks in advance

Upgrade Cluster OS to 2012 R2

History...

2 Node mixed SQL Cluster.

SQL 2008R2 + SQL 2012

Host OS, Server 2012.

I need/want to upgrade the HOST OS to 2012 R2.  NO CHANGES TO SQL.  I want  to avoid creating a new cluster.

options...

1. in place upgrade.  Is it supported?  IE: pause node.  upgrade OS.

2. evict node. Upgrade OS, then rejoin to cluster.

What are my options.  it's really frustrating trying to find good documentation because the products have the same "2012" in the name.

please help.  Thanks

Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2 in same failover cluster

Is it still not possible to mix versions of Windows Server in the same failover cluster or can I join a Windows Server 2012 R2 server to a Windows Server 2012 failover cluster as part of upgrading the whole cluster to Windows Server 2012 R2?

Adding a virtual node to existing cluster

$

I'm looking for some advice on virtualization of a physical cluster. My goal is to virtualize a two node physical cluster without needing to take the cluster offline. The cluster is connected to a SAN via iSCSI.

The plan is to create a new virtual machine and add this as a third node in the cluster. The shared storage can be added to this node through iSCSI initiator. The physical servers have a heartbeat connection by means of a cross-over cable connected between both servers. I am planning to add a simple network hub here so that I can connect the virtual host and run the heartbeat connection through that.

My question is simply if this is a valid cluster configuration? And if so, how can I add the hub without taking the cluster down?

How to delete the default "cluster" folder once the Quorum drive has been re-assigned?

$

Installed a Windows Server 2008 R2 Failover Cluster.  By default, the Failover Cluster Manager assigned the X:\ drive as the Quorum drive.  Using Failover Cluster Manager, I was able to move\reassign the Quorum drive as, let's say, the N: drive.  However this action does not delete the "Cluster" folder that was initially created on the X: drive.

What is the correct procedure to be rid of the "Cluster" folder that was created on the X: drive when the cluster was initially created without any impact to the existing failover cluster?

I have 3 machines I wish to use as hyper-v failover cluster. I wish to use shared storage as SMB 3.0 on a 4th machine. I can create the failover cluster, however when I go to storage to add the SMB share, I can only add disks or pools, neither will allow me to add the SMB share. Can someone please advise?

Hi all,

pardon me in case I am posting the question in wrong thread. I am creating a cluster between two windows server 2008 R2 for asp.net application running on IIS through network load balancing manager. Application is deployed and running fine on two servers. Problem I am facing when I start creating a cluster between two servers located in two different geographic location. First server IP is 10.171.240.162/255.255.0.0
Second Server IP is 10.227.29.132/255.255.25.128

I am unable to create a cluster when try to add second node. I have done this before but not sure whats the problem this time. I hope I am not doing some basic mistake. Urgent help will be appreciated.

Adil Hussain
